I also have a parent with Dementia issues. My mother has first phase/ stage Alzheimers and "wandered" a couple of weeks ago in the middle of the the night.
I was awakened by the local authorities and asked if I had a mother in the neighborhood. You can imagine my heart sank to my stomach with this question Luckily I was able to recover her with the help of very kind neighbors and the authorities. My point to you is it sounds more like your mother has Alzhiemers than simple dementia... try to get her additional assistance as soon as possible.

I have an elderly mother who seems to be getting worse all the time. I feel I must get her to a doctor , my stepfather is suffering watching his wife slowly change. She doesn't know who I am, She forgot me first that was a couple of years ago. Now she is forgetting more and more. She has terrible temper tantrums that are driving my father crazy. I have transportation problems at the moment. I really want to help and I do what I can. This makes me so sad, to see my parents suffer.
